InteleCell Overview

The InteleCell™ is a small, remotely deployable, rugged smart data acquisition device specifically designed for real-world, long-range unattended monitoring in remote areas. As a true multi-protocol router for sensor data, it can be used for acquiring information from a wide variety of sensors, each with different hardware interfaces and software protocols simultaneously.

InteleCells can either be deployed with sensors in the field for long-term, unattended monitoring or serve as a handheld data acquisition device for manual sampling. Its architecture and large number of supported interfaces also make it an ideal gateway for joining many wired and wireless interfaces.

Applications include applications monitoring, medical monitoring, emergency telemedicine and disaster response. It is also able to extend any TCP/IP network, such as the Internet, into very remote areas where no other infrastructure is available.

InteleCell Highlights:

  • InteleCells support many sensors and sensor brands out of the box with a simple web-based configuration menu – no programming is required.
  • InteleCells come with a large number of pre-installed sensor drivers including environmental sensors, medical devices even cameras. If desired, users may develop their own sensor driver or work with Intelesense to develop one for them.
  • InteleCells, when grouped together, can form a self-organizing mesh network with guaranteed packet delivery; data is stored and resent until delivered and acknowledged.
  • InteleCells have two built in radio modules:
    • 1W 900Mhz radio module that can communicate at 115kbps across distances of up to 14 miles (with dipole antennas) or 40 miles (with directional antennas) with full 256-bit AES encryption.
    • 250mW radio module for communication between wireless sensors and InteleMotes.
  • InteleCells have both built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet which can be used as a network or sensor interface.
  • InteleCells have flexible power options where voltage levels for sensors can be set as needed and optionally turned on/off at pre-defined intervals for power-efficient operation.
  • Six ports (three analog and three serial) that also include power and GPIO lines for controlling smart sensors.
  • Built-in GPS allows the device to locate itself anywhere in the world and stay in sync with other devices in the Intelesense network.
